I have been conducting a heat transfer experiment in a rectangular channel with modifications on the inner surfaces of the channel to enhance heat transfer. In order to validate my experiment, I have to compare experimental values in smooth channel case with the predicted values by Dittus-Bolter and Blasius equations. So,what is the maximum allowable error between the experimental and correlations values?
I think you're asking the wrong question here. All empirical relationships are approximate. If your experimental apparatus and conditions don't fit well with the ones used to arrive at the empirical relationship, then the two will not agree. My doctoral work was on experimental measurement of heat transfer on enhanced surfaces.
Your correlation values are experimental, so I'm not sure about your question
For heat transfer experimental problem, the uncertainty is higher than those for fluid flow problems, it could reach 8% to 10% as long as the losses are correctly quantified. More than 10% is not recommended.
