Followings are the main causes of oocyte degeneration after performing ICSI;

1) Vibrations during injection

2) Volume of PVP >0.016micrilitre

3) Leakage of ooplasm due to rupture of oolemna after ICSI

4) Sometimes spike of injecting pipette causes rupture of oolemna

5) Accidental Rupture of oolemna at both the sides (3 O‘Clock & 6 O‘Clock) during injection

6) Cytoplasmic Granularity

7) Abnormally increased Perivitelline space

Agreed with yogesh, and a few I like to add ,

1:some time thick zona oocytes also get lysed immediately after injection, because of ooplasmic pressure.

2: Fragile oocytes.

3: Sticky cytoplasm.

4: Pcos patient oocytes.

5: Immature cytoplasmic maturation.

6: Finally inherent quality of oocytes.

one more: prolonged duration of ICSI in low or very high temperature (check the heating stage of the inverted miscroscope)
