I love working filopodia. My research is primarily on the role of filopodia of developing motoneurons. I also work with human motoneurons derived from iPS cells, which also have plenty of filopodia. Therefore I would recommend you a motoneuron cell line that you may be able to purchase or just generate your own from embronic or fetal spinal cords. See my Review from last month on role of filopodia in motoneuron plasticity. I will be very interested with what you do.

Just to add that we don really have a specific marker for filopodia and therefore when the filopodia-like processes get longer than 15-20 micron it is hard to tell whether it is a filopodia or a dendritic branch. On the other hand there is also a problem to distinguish short filopodia (
