What is the logic behind using 0.5%, or 1% chicken RBC In HA and HI test?

I have seen different papers using different RBC concentrations (i,e, 0.5% and 1% chicke RBC) for HA and HI test ? Is there any specification when to use 0.5% or 1% RBC or can we use either of the concentration? Please clarify!
