H index has increased its importance as an indicator of research performance at different levels, including particularly the researchers. Then, my questions is to know how important is this indicator to take decisions related to posts, positions at universities, as well requisite to be part of technical committees at scientific societies or be invited to scientific meetings in different fields.
H Index it is useful to detect where are the most prolific authors, researchers and institutions. That's important for new projects's decision taking.

I'm not really sure if it happens in different sectors from my field but at the individual levels H Index it's used for decision making. Maybe if you contact research agency members you will receive an exact answer of that question. In the caso of Cuba, the health sector tend to take this aspect into account.
