Digital Object Identifier is a unique number assigned to scholarly articles to ensure their International Standardization and for easier identification of published articles even if the metadata URL is changed. Should all publishers register and assign DOI to their articles? Should DOI assignment be used as one of the key criteria in choosing a good journal by authors?

All publishers should register and assign DOI to their articles and I believe that in the near future all of them will be doing that. DOI is for scientists what EAN is for consumers and it's hard to believe why it was introduced so late.
Choosing a journal for scientific article publication the DOI is only one of the criteria, though probably not the most important one.

Unique number assigned to an article allows for a quick and precise search for this paper. Yes, I too believe that all journals should assign DOI to the articles they publish. It's a great thing that Research Gate provides an option to generate a DOI for submissions such as conference papers/presentation slides.
The DOI is a digital object identifier, and actually the internet address of a paper that leads the searcher to the publishers' sites. It enables locating the paper quickly, and serves as the paper's original location.
