Actually, I want to synthesize some metal and carbon source for battery application and when I read some reference some metal if burned with high temp. 700-1000c will change the carbon structure to become graphitic carbon. which best graphitic carbon or just carbon for li ion battery?
Generally, graphitic carbon has better electronic conductivity than amorphous carbon, so graphitic carbon is better at enhancing the performance of the LIBs. You should also consider the structure of the materials; amorphous carbon may have porous structure which is good for contraction of the electrolyte with the active materials. So, turn amorphous carbon into graphitic carbon may simultaneously results in less pore and larger piratical size of the active material, both are bad for the battery performances.
