COVID 19 has brought a lot of untold hardships in the world's economy due to the lockdowns imposed by Government around the world. National economies have started assessing the impact of COVID 19 on their national economies. One very important area COVID 19 has impacted is the Scientific community. Currently, all scientific conferences have been either cancelled or re-scheduled using virtual means. In your estimation, what do you think is the impact of COVID 19 on the Scientific Community and how can it be measured?
On a optimistic note, i would say that the pandemic itself has been a boon to the scientific community in the sense that is has presented a very challenging scientific problem: to understand the corona virus, its functioning, mechanisms of spread, development of targeted medicines to curb its spread and elimination etc, these problems have given researchers in related disciplines to study and publish research findings on COVID -19 that can have immediate impact in the global struggle to overcome this pandemic.
