Does anyone has experience with seed extract preparation? help me i am facing difficulty in choosing the solvent and percentage of the solvent.i am working on antioxidant activity. i searched literature but i want to know from experienced people. please help to me.

The solvents should be preferably organic in nature like , ethyl esters , ethyl acetate , N- hexane, petroleum ether etc.
The used solvent depends on the extract of required components..such as non-polar , polar, terpenoids, polyphenols....etc
If you don,t want to extract a specific compound you have to follow the general extraction process... starting from non-polar solvent such as n-hexane or petroleum ether...ethyl acetate.. ethanol or methanol finally 80% methanol
Dear faiqHussain thank you, i have another question i want to the components present or not as like atnocyanidins,proanthocyanidins,tri terpennoids, tannins,etc, could you make me believe which solvent is better either ethanol or methanol.please help me
For simple terpenes (essential oils) which are non-polar, use non-polar solvent(like dissolves like) such n-hexane or petroleum ether after that ethyl acetate , methanol and finally with 80%methanol. Check by TLC.
Separate the components using chrom. techniques, best one is MPLC reverse phase (flash chrom.).Identify the separated single compounds using spectroscopic methods or match with standered compds.on TLC.
