What is the function of the net negative charge of bacteria?

So, both Gram- and Gram+ bacteria are negatively charged because of LPS and teichoic acids. What is the function of the negative charge? Additional question: will an antimicrobial without any charge be able to reach the negatively charged bacteria?

to my knowledge if be correct, they can be attracted by opposite charges in the soil or on the plant root surface
