I would like to illustrate this question below.

I am using Raman spectrometer for studying the insulator to metal transition of materials.

Does incident light depend the penetration depth of the material? Or can I use any wavelength of incident light to study the insulator to metal transition?

What is the formula used for calculating the penetration depth (skin depth) of light in a material? How does it related to dependencies of the frequency of the light? Also, how it (penetration depth) depends on the frequency-dependent optical conductivity?

I kindly request you to answer this question. You answer will help my research work lot.

Thanks,
