Does anyone know the formula behind mass balance index implemented in SAGA-GIS? Any references on this? Any information on what the index represent and how it can be interpreted?

to my knowledge, the MBI implemented in SAGA-GIS is different from the MBI introduced by Böhner & Selige. More details to the SAGA-GIS variant including formular and application examples can be found in the following articles:
