In other words: is there an effect on the stability when comparing highly monodisperse liposomes (for example 100 nm +/- 5) versus highly polydisperse liposomes (for example 100 nm +/- 50 nm? Is there any paper that focus on the effect of size particle distribution on the stability of the liposomes? Thanks a lot.

A polydisperse liposome solution signifies that there are different sized liposomes present in the solution. So it is non- homogeneous in nature which I suppose have little to do with stability but smaller the particle size ( liposome size) more stable the structure. When you are talking of the solution as a whole, polydispersity does matter as far as stability is a concern.
I've had understood that heterogenous colloidal dispersions in terms of broad size distribution are less stable than homogenous colloidal dispersions but I don't know exactly where to find papers about it.

Poor stability may lead to a relatively high polydispersity being measured, but conversely a polydisperse sample is not necessarily unstable.
Below are particle size distributions I measured by DLS for a liposome sample, where the two measurements were performed almost a month apart (the most recent was today 21/11/17 and the other was 25/10/17). Both agree fairly well and with the range of variation seen for repeat measurements. This sample was kept at room temperature in a standard cuvette. It's polydisperse but still fairly stable.

Alireza, I know it's a common knowledge in colloid chemistry but what's the actual nature behind that behavior? Is there any theoretical paper or experimental paper about the degree of aggregation due to polydispersity? I'm gonna search about the Ostwald maturation that happen in emulsions but I wanted to related that to charged liposomes (just cationic liposomes, not different charged liposomes in the same dispersion).
Alexander. Yes. Increasing PDI could be a way to measure physical instability. You say polydisperse sample is not necessarily unstable, but why? is there any paper about it? What's the PDI of that sample of liposomes? Have you performed more monodisperse batched that are less unstable?

In colloid material, material needs to be stable.
Stability happened when colloid had same size and same surface charge in this situation they are stable and they do not need to aggregation to reaching stable form because same surface charge keep particle away from each other in good way but when you have different size so you have different charge surface so materials aggregate to reaching in stable form.
