Hi, I am not sure I understood your question but I still hope I can help you. TNF-alpha acts directly on neurons (inceases AMPA receptor expression) and on astrocytes (promtes glutamte release from them). Nothing is known on how increased AMPA receptors may modify astrocytic funtion. This would imply a retrograde messanger from the post-synapse to glial cell.
