Both the fruit and iron bar contain iron. The difference is that the steel bar is made of iron crystals (in which a little C atoms are dissolved), while the iron in the fruit is dissolved in the juice (as iron ions).
You can compare this with kitchen salt (NaCl) on the table this material is a solid (crystals), while in soup it would dissolve (as ions).
Very good question , no doubt. Iron in fig is mteabolically more active inside the plant because of their presence in ionic form ( rightly said by Erik) , besides iron is linked with amino acids and other bioactive salts..Presence niacin, riboflavin, thiamine also regulate the efficiency of iron absorption while consumption of fig inside the human body..
It is interesting that the plants get their minerals and metals from their root system while the iron in ore deposits are probably deeper in the soil than the plants can reach.
Most of the iron ore deposits in the world are in the form of rocks of iron formations, known as BIFs. These rocks are sedimentary rocks, containing successive layers of iron-rich minerals and silica granules known as flints. Plant sources, which provide the body with non-heme iron, are less effective. Iron in plant sources is associated with other compounds that reduce its absorption in the human body. These compounds are called phytates,It is found in whole grains, fruits and dried beans.
I side with the brilliant and straight to the point difference between iron in fruits and iron in metals by Prof. Erik. I am equally fascinated by the scientific explanation of his plant utilizes iron by Prof. Anoop, the formation of iron in metals and plants by professors Isam and Tony. I am equally amazed about the skilful adaptation if iron in plant source in Chinese medicine for the treatment of Anemia by Prof. Frieda. I am really enjoying the discussions. Best regards
Educative responses by all standards. Iron in fruits is to provide the body with adequate nutrients and iron in ironstone is to provide strength for a building. They are all for reinforcement but in different dimensions.

Elements or irons in a plant have feelings expression. However, iron in an iron bar has a feeling or not, needs scientist who has the equipment to find out and come back to post here to share. Thanks.
It reminds me a movie that I watched when I was a kid that the bricks in a house can witness a criminal happened in a house.
It's interesting and remind that our talking and our mindset should be integrity without bad intentions.
Not only about iron, it is generally seen that the minerals of organic sources, found in the living entity (plant, animal, birds, fish, fruit, vegetable etc.) are absorbed better from the intestine after intake than minerals from inorganic sources.
So, iron of fig will act as a better dietary iron source than inorganic one.
That's why Chinese medicine uses natural plants, animals to treat diseases instead if chemicals. Though Chinese herbal treatments have been using mineral materials to treat. But's it's rare.
