Dear Asaad, though there seems to be a difference, I can sill find one. I think the words scholar and academic are interchangeable and that the both journals are peer reviewed.

whereas academic journals pertain to limited to their respective institutes/ organizations and publications are also mostly confined their research work and will be mostly reviewed by the experts available within their organization or institute though some times they may send to outside reviewers for expertise.
On novelty scale, the Peer-reviewed journals are on top because the related specialization field experts evaluated the typescript and suggest/recommend amendments with an aim to elevate the standard of the submitted script.
