I have a huge problem right now and I will be grateful if you guys could help me in this regard. Roughly, my study is regarding modeling seahorse extract on asthma by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and in order to minimize the residual in model, I will use bootstrapping method (by using R language). My first question is:

My problem is I got confused which model to use between these two:

i) Multiple linear regression (Yi=β0+ β1X1i+ β2X2i +ei) or

ii) Covariance algebra model COV(Y1,Y2)=COV(γ11X1+ε1, β21Y1+ γ21X1+ε1)

For the 2nd model, I referred to the book Using Multivariate Statistics written by Barbara G.Tabachnick & Linda S.Fidell (1996), Chapter 14 written by Prof. Dr Ullman on the page 717. This book was published by Harper Collins College Publishers.

Second question is what is the difference between basic multiple linear regression and multiple linear regression that we have in SEM? It would be my pleasure if you could help me solve this matter.
