Several metals and alloys may become amorphous during extended milling in an attitor . Investigations, mainly during the last decade, have resulted in the development of tailor - made amorphous alloys (glassy metals),by this method. Is that an advantage or disadvantage ?
If i use little of powder about 30 gm grain size about 1 micron can i use attritor or ball mill
The difference between the two is the type of mill, for the attrition mills: milling results from the stirring action of a rotating impeller with arms, horizontal which produce a relative movement between balls and powder, beside the planetary mill contain two to four vials, which are fixed to a disc rotating in a direction opposite to that of the vials.
This difference of Milling equipment result a difference in the energy delivered to this powder.
The energy delivered in the case of planetary mill is much greater than an attritor.
The planetary mill is a high energy mill.
For the development and the study of amorphous alloys, it’s depend of what you desire to investigate.
If your aim was from the beginning to investigate the amorphous so obtain an amorphous after milling is an advantage, for that you will accede to use a high energy mill.
