Some studies showed that the two methods agreed poorly on the MIC. For example, agar dilution MICs for E. coli and S. aureus might be lower than those of broth microdilution. However, the result depends on the bacteria and medium due to different saturation levels. In addition, broth microdilution is more cost and efficient.
