For incremental time history analysis, what is the main criteria for selection of earth quakes corresponding to specific return period, for example 75 Year return period , 500, 1000 and 2500 year return period. Which earthquake should be selected for specific site for example Los Angeles (LA) with lat and long of (34.0,-118.2)?

The criteria is likelihood of the earthquake regarding the design seismic level/return period. What are the likely earthquakes (M-r-epsilon triplet) that may cause strong motions (e.g. PGA, Sa, PGV etc.) exceeding the thresholds for each mean return period could be seen in the disaggregation of the Seismic Hazard. For the US I believe this information is public.
