What is the correlation of stem cells and the surface curvature of skin?

The postembryonic growth control organizer model (www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0079610716300487) suggests that the stem cells likely concentrate at the extreme points of body surface curvature. Is there evidence for or against this prediction?
