Assume we want to perform a buckling analysis of a slender beam with on end fixed and with a bending force on the other end. The analysis will take place in abaqus. The steps that I am following are:

1) First step is to do a linear static analysis in order to obtain the stresses and displacements. Then, I am checking of high compressive stressses. This area is close to the fixed end( with maximum value very close to the boundary) so I am expecting that buckling will occur at this area.

2) Next, for the given bc and applied force I am doing a linear buckling analysis in order to obtain the critical buckling factor and check if it is lower or greater than 1.

3) If critical buckling factor is less than 1 I calculate critical force and critical displacements

For now I am focusing only on linear pre- buckling behaviour. Is this kind of thought correct and reliable (if we assume no nonlinearities)? Is anything else that I could calculate for a complete linear buckling analysis? Can I obtain anything else for linear static analysis?
