Hi Thomas,

if you have prepared the data as in the example data than you have to set your keyboard settings to English for ArcGIS.

This will hopefully fix the problem. If not please post again.

The attached files format is working for me. Also, you need to give the same names (up to five characters) both for data file and in station locations table.

Sample data format in arcswat works.....not sure why its not working....may be check the keyboard setting to english like Jens recommended.

You can see all sample data (included weather data) in C:\SWAT\ArcSWAT\Databases\ExInputs

- pcp.txt: rainfall

- tmp.txt: temperature

- rh.txt: relative humidity

- solar.txt: solar radiation

- wind.txt: wind speed

I am having a hard time entering sub-daily rainfall data into ArcSWAT using the format that the manual specifies. I used a pcp file with the 5 fields: ID, Name, Latitude, Longitude, and Elevation. I also add a file specified in Name field with start date in line 1: yyyymmdd, rainfall interval in line 2 (minutes), and precipitation in the other lines. I get a message under the Weather Data Definition: "The table ... does not have the correct fields". Please advise.

This ArcSWAT is driving me nuts. I load all the required files (Land use, Soil map, weather data and DEM) for the generation of HRU's. When it prompts me to select the files, it shows all the files incomplete. Please, help me out of this...!!!

Parvaiz; To be a little more specific, where in the model you have a problem exactly. what error message are you getting? if that is clear there might be a solution. Is it from landuse/soil/slope or HRU definition?

Please see the example files I attached for Thomas Bueche in this thread 3 years ago. As others said, if you prepare your data according to the example formats, it should work. Otherwise, attach your input files to have a look.

thank you for your answer, I even copied my precipitation and temperature data and pasted all my data in the example files but those didn't work for me, i tried download all data from https://globalweather.tamu.edu/ and that worked, i still cant understand what was the problem.

Hello, i got weather data from two stations from https://globalweather.tamu.edu/. In order to use them do i need to merge them in a single text file,or i insert them individually. Moreover one of the two stations is a few km out of my watershed. Can i use them and if yes is the programm going make some some of calibration? Also Mr. Olkeba T. Leta from the examples that you upload 3 years ago, i noticed that the coordinates are of the stations are missing. I assume that the coordinates must be on same coordinate system with my layer. If yes up to how many numbers can i use for defining the coordinates?

Dear Petros,

You don't need to merge the two stations, but provide them to the model individually. SWAT will pick the closest station to the centroid of sub-basin. The example files I attached 3 years ago were precipitation and temperature time series data.

To use the stations' data, you need to create location table that has ID, station names, lat, long, and elevation (m) information, respectively (see attached example for precip). Please note that the station names in your location table should be the same with your data files names, as well as in the same folder. Otherwise, SWAT will not able to match name and read data to create e.g. pcp.pcp file during set-up process. Yes, the coordinates should be on the same system with your GIS layers.

I’m very new in SWAT/arcSWAT. I can run the model using the database/simulation data in swat. But when I tried using the data of my study with the format recommended but then it doesn’t work.

I always facing with the same errors says that that rainfall (other data) does not have correct fields. I reviewed the documentation and users guide for arcswat interface 2012. I’m using arcswat2012 interface in arcGIS 10.3, 64bit.

And also among the choices from wgeb users, Us 1st order and so on which one is recommended to use if I’m using my own datasets from meteorogical agencies?

Thomas Bueche Elnaz Pezeshki I had a similar problem. I can upload those data (rainfall data, temperature data, relative humidity data, solar radiation data and wind speed data) into " Weather Data Definition", and it works well as"processing comlete", but no station are added to swat project as a point layer.

Gianluigi Busico Your HRU Analysis is not properly completed. Please check your HRU Analysis Topograohy report. In my opinion you have to revise the Landuse/Soil and slope step again carefully.

How do you prepare your temperature file? I mean I have the same as "precipitation" files for maximum and minimum air temperature but I don't know how to merge them in one file with comma separated (max, min) cause I have more than 10 years of daily data and doing this by hand is not possible for every 20 stations.

If you have dbf or csv files of Tmax & Tmin, and familar with Python, you may use the attached script with the example file.

Dear Nabeel,

First you need to create a location table with list of name, lat , long, and elevation for all stations. Each name should match with each precipitation file that should be saved in the same folder of location table. Then call the location table in ArcSWAT while building the model (I hope the same for SWAT+ but I haven't used the model yet). That should make a single .txt file for you. Alternatively, you can write a small script that reads in all the station files and convert them SWAT ready format (see the tutorial/example SWAT model for the format).
