I've just read your paper. Many congratualtions. Very interesting work. We see a lot of biosie samples from the Z-line and, as you stated, most of these show cardia-type mucosa and I would agree that this is likely to reflect acid-induced metaplasia of squamous mucosa. However, what do you make of cardia-type mucosa showing Hp infection and active inflammation in the context of Hp-associated pan-gastritis? Is this superinfection of reflux-induced metaplastic cardia-type mucosa?

Thanks Gerald for your interest. 

This study is on GOJ of healthy volunteers, who are H.pylori negative, or even in better words H.pylori naive. During the last three years several experts like you asked me about state of GOJ in H.pylori infected subjects. I think all of you are right, we need to know what would happen in those infected versus non-infected group, as we do not know any previous study about it. Currently we have started it as a new project and the it planned to be finished within 2 two years, so hope to be able to answer questions soon!
