All our experiments with different DNA in standard buffer give a broad extinction peak at 515nm. Does anyone know where this comes from? We suspect that it is light scattering, but we can't find reports of it in the literature.
Protoporphyrin (IX) ferrochelatase has an absorption peak in the UVC. Aleksandar Simeonov and I have written a paper suggesting that the fundamental molecules of life are really pigments absorbing...

Popper called Darwin's theory of evolution through natural selection a "metaphysical research program" principally because of the apparent tautology in "survival of the survivors". However, beyond...

Thermodynamics seems to have an uncanny relation to general relativity. For example, the zeroth, first, second and third laws of thermodynamics have their analogs in the physics of black holes...

Life, for the most part, dissipates short-wavelength photons. Hurricanes dissipate long-wavelength photons. What are some other differences between these two types of non-linear, non-equilibrium...

When I tried to energy minimization my system, I got fatal error as below. Fatal error: Atomtype opls_116 not found Although I've already added this line: ; include water #include "oplsaa.ff/spc.itp" to [molecultype] directive in my topology.

In physics, the description of the properties of light generally refers to its wavelength (nm), while in the range of microwaves and radio waves we refer to the frequency of a signal (e.g. kHz or...
