I modelled and simulated zirconia nanotubes using ANSYS to predict some mechanical properties, with particular emphasis on Young's modulus. During the simulation some parameters such as diameter, thickness and length were varied. Direct measurement of Young's modulus of nanotubes is difficult and when possible, it is expensive. I need references for data and methods.
1-The best way is experimental testing.
2-If you cannot do experiments on them, then try to use experimental results for the similar Zirconia nano tubes in previous literature !
Also, Try theory of models and using Buckingham Pi theory to find out a similitude to these nano tubes but with low cost and with other materials !
Use nanoindentation to determine hardness and Young's modulus; this process is difficult, expensive and sometimes time consuming. Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation can also be used based on first principles calculations using atomic coordinates. Tools available include CASTEP, LAMMPS, CRYSTAL09, etc.
