Chitosan will easily dissolved in 1% Aqueous acetic acid solution (2g of chitosan dissolved in 100ml of 1%aqueous acetic acid). You may try this method to prepare aqueous solution of chitosan.

@ Mohammad, Disperse 1 gram of Chitosan in 50 mL of water with a high-speed stirrer, and while agitation is continuing, add 50 mL 2% acid. Stir for 30 minutes or until dissolution is complete. It will give you 1% Chitosan solution.

Chitosan can be dissolved in acidic sovents. You can use any of the two methods

1. Chitosan can be dissolve in the mixture of 0.1M Acetic acid and 0.2M NaCl (at Room temp., 12 Hours with stirring) ............OR...............

2. Chitosan can be dissolved in 0.1M acetic acid (at 60 degrees celcius ., 5 hrs with stirring)
