I have two groups of microbial genomes, group “A” and group “B”. Each genome is functionally characterized with COG and KEGG (number of genes on each functional class/metabolic pathway). I would find the COG (or KEGG) functional classes (if they exist) characterizing each group of genomes (i.e. functional classes that are statistically different between groups “A” and “B”). What kind of statistical test can I use and how can I implement it (for example in R or in excel?).
Thank you
Regards
