Malaria is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in most tropical countries in most age groups. Its infection, provides a very unique socio-economic effects on the population and therefore a major public health concern. Specimens of blood containing malaria parasites could be kept for long duration in order that further studies can be conducted and patterns of their behaviours observed over time. It is therefore important that keeping the parasite viable for long duration can provide a very good opportunity for further studies
