Can anybody confirm me in actual petroleum industry, do n heptane (n-C7) and n decane (n-c10) is suitable and practical to dissolve the EVA and MA (methyl acrylate) wax inhibitors? I have found a work in 2012 used both solvent to dissolve n-24 parrafin. Thanks and looking forward for your kind feedback.

Generally Cyclohexane has been used as a solvent for EVA and other crystal modifiers for efficiency comparison.

In terms of solvents, it is well known that wax inhibitors are usually formulated with active compounds (crystal modifiers) dissolved in organic (aromatic) solvents for oilfield use (Jennings and Newberry 2008). In other words, the performance of the wax crystal modifiers may be further improved if a synergistic effect exists between EVA and solvent(s). Lashkarbolooki et al. (2011) evaluated several solvents and eventually proposed an optimum formulation for wax inhibition, i.e., 50 wt% EVA + 25 wt% Acetone + 25 wt% p-xylene, which could give up to 53 % reduction in the amount of wax deposition. Therefore, the formulation of wax inhibitors must be optimized before application due to the significant influence of solvent(s) (Qian et al. 2002).

Currently, I am diluted the EVA in cyclohexane at temp of 70C. The duration of the experimental  is depend to the amount of EVA loading. so it more on the observation . Don't forget to stir during the dilution process  . I am using EVA with 25% of VA.. How about you.

Since chloroform is anesthetic, would be difficult to handle, can we use TetraHydroFuran (THF)?

at what VA % does EVA dissolve in chloroform? also does it dissolve at room temperature?

Have you tried tolulene? We use it for extractions of extruded material and it works very well.

EVA is low polar, so it could be solved in Benzene or any other polar solvent. I used sometime Benzene and sometimes chloroform and both are worked easily
