The entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae is soilborne and a generalist mycopesticide against grasshoppers, termites, thrips, malaria-transmitting mosquitoes and others. The level of insect control (mortality) in general depends on concentration, strain, formulation and weather conditions.

several entomopathogenic soil fungi (like Beauveria and Metarhizium) are tolerant to low to medium levels of the fungicide Dodine (N-dodecylguanidine mono-acetate), and semi-selective media were developed using this fungicide. When I worked with entomopathogenic fungi (years ago), I used a medium developed by Strasser et al. (1996): 10 g peptone, 20 g glucose, 18 g agar/l. After autoclaving, add 0.05 g cyclohexamide, 0.1 g streptomycin, 0.05 g tetracycline and 0.1 g dodine. pH 6.3. However, dodine is not always easily available, and some strains of Metarhizium show low level of tolerance and might be killed by this concentration. A wew dodine-free selective media was developed recently, but I don't have any experience using it:

here you have a semiselective medium free of dodine that seems to work good with this fungal entomopathogen genus. This medium contains CTAB 6 g/l
