In XRD for clay minerals we need to determine the peaks (intensity or counts) in the y-axe and in x-axe the angle (2theta). What is the best procedure to identify the constituents on each peak?
In genera, clay is a complex minerals. Clay contains many inorganic constituents like alumina, iron, magnesium, silica, quartz, illite, chloride, kaolinite, hematite, etc. Intensity of the peaks depends on the amount of constituents. In the XRD spectrum, the prominent peaks are identified at (2 theta) for Illite (001)at 9, Illite (002) at 18, kaolinite (001) at 12, kaolinite (002) at 25, quatz (100) at 21 degree, etc. You can get also from JCPD data from website.
