PCR and ELISA test, detect different targets, PCR detect genomic DNA from parasites and ELISA detects antibodies. Haemoparasites such as T. cruzi, or Plasmodium malariae, can be easily detected by PCR. ELISA detect circulating antibodies against most of foreign pathogen organisms.
