I have just completed a study where I investigated whether CPAP (treatment for sleep apnoea) changes intraocular pressure at night. I had 2 groups of patients: glaucoma (n=14) and controls (n=12). Each subjects attended for 2 overnight visits: 1st before they started CPAP and 2nd 4-6 weeks into the treatment with measurements performed with them wearing CPAP. On each night the measurements were performed every 2 hrs starting from 00.00 and finishing at 8.00. Intraocular pressure was measured in both eyes.
I want to compare the measurements between the two nights in both eyes to determine whether overall CPAP changes eye pressure at night and also determine whether the effect size differs between the glaucoma and the control group.
I am struggling to decide how best to analyse these data. The design of the study does not fit the usual repeated measured ANOVA, mixed design ANOVA or mixed effect model. I could simple compare means of means for all overnight readings between the two nights and also derive means for the two eyes or analyse right and left eye separately but I suspect this would not be the best way of approaching this.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
Many thanks
