I occasionally need to produce 10^11 CFU of S. pneumoniae for the purpose of antibody production in rabbits. Currently our lab does this on about 500 individual agar plates. I think this is very inefficient and it would make a lot more sense to grow this bacteria in one 500 ml flask of broth. 10^9 CFU/mL is a fairly common standard for liquid culture, so this seems like a totally reasonable goal. I'm looking for a good reliable protocol to suggest for this purpose. Thank you
