I would like to reuse the ZnCl2 solution for density extractions of microplastics from river sediments. So far I have tested a few different filters, but they tend to clog up fairly quickly due to the fine silts and clays. I would like to know what types of filters other researchers use for clean up of ZnCl2 density solution before reusing for further extractions.

It all depends on your interest. Most people don't have capabilities and need to identify the sub-micron size. In that case, depending on the use for microscopic examination or need to go for micro-FTIR or micro-Raman you can decide the pore size and material. In most cases, a 1-micron pore filter will suffice for all these.
You may also note that if you are planning to use a fluorescence dye or going for polymeric characterization avoid the use of nylon, PTFE filters. the inorganic filter will be best suited for the purpose.
