I am trying to determine porosity from thin sections of carbonate rocks and sandstones using digital image analysis. Because the software (image J) recognizes blue areas as pore spaces, I need perfectly blue epoxied thin sections. Any advice on epoxy dyes I can use? The epoxy that I am using has gelling problems and it cannot be invaded into small pores.

Since there is not a standard mixing plan of epoxy resin and blue dye, you have to blend them experimentally to reach a suitable compositions regarding your considered pore sizes. but what is important about this matter is that., when you use the less amount of resin against hardner + blue dye, a bright liquid solution can be made up which make your small pores fairy detectable. moreover, you should use pressure vacuum (normally 4 bar) to inject the solution in to pores forcefully.
