Hello everyone, can anyone give me advice in statistic analysis of daily activity of Ground beetles (Carabus coriaceus, C. scheidleri)?
I want to test, whether there are some daily rhythm and if so quantify it´s aspects.
Laboratory experiment was done in basement with litle windows, so there was normal day/night period.
I have 14 days (at least) of continual video record of 9 beetles (each alone in plastic container on sandy soil). I am beginner in statistics. Can anyone recommend some statistic approach?

You'll first need to transform you data to have activity data to analyze. For example, the time beetles spent flying per hour (if an animal was flying, let's say, 30 min over one hour, it will be 50%), or the distance covered in 15 min, or another info that can then be analyzed. Some softwares (see below) require evenly-spaced data, others don't.
Once you have that, there are several softwares that can help to perform the time-series and chronobiological analyses. Some are free, others not. Whatever software or R package you choose, you'll need to go through the user's manual or publication to understand the different steps to perform in order to build a robust analysis.
