I am planning to prepare female MCAo stroke model without estrogen. The removing the ovary of the female SD rat is the popular and most widely used method for that. I have undergone through the several research articles which have been using the same models.

Each and every articles provide the weight of the rats but many of them did not mention the age. And there was large variations in the age of rats used in the experiments from one article to other, though the weight is almost same. So I am very much confused that what aged animal should be used for the appropriate outcomes while preparing the animal stroke models.
