Literature suggests psychotherapy groups should not have more than 12 clients. If you have more than 12 participants in your control group, might you have two control groups run by the same clinician with the same structure/ content?
8 seria lo ideal de clientes, para pretender estudiar el impacto de los tratamientos o procesos de cambio en situiaciones de observacion para identificar la influencia de las variables dependiente y sus consecuencias.
5-6 people are the ideal number for group therapy, especially if you want to accomplish a significate amount of work, but usually, 8-12 people are considered a full-capacity group.
I think your question is two separate ones. The first one is the appropriate number of clients in a therapeutic group. Your setting and therapeutic method determine this number. The second is the appropriate number of participants in a study design to obtain suitably powered results in a statistical sense. Depending on what effect size your intervention will produce, the number of people in the study may vary. It may be recommended to conduct more than one group, i.e. if power analysis determines you need 30 participants to observe an effect reliably, then you would need to conduct four groups with 8 participants each or three groups with 10 participants each etc. depending on the setting you choose.
Hello! Why only ask for the control group? The sample size of the experimental and control groups, as much as possible, should be parallel. Since it's quasi, you may involve a max of 15 provided you have Process Observers or better yet, the session/s is/are recorded. if you happen to be the only one facilitating the session/s a max of 10 samples will be fine. Good luck!
Depends on the disorder. For chronic psychosis I do not recommend more than 6 in our metacognitive training groups, for acute patients in closed wards even that might be too large
To answer the 1st part of the question, I would say that to effectively address clients' needs, between 5 - 12 clients would be appropriate, and 2 therapists. The purpose of the group therapy would also factor in
You can use g-power zu estimate the number. It is from düsseldorf university: https://www.psychologie.hhu.de/arbeitsgruppen/allgemeine-psychologie-und-arbeitspsychologie/gpower
