A post mitotic neuronal cell is a fully differentiated non dividing cell - meaning after neurogenesis. As such, autophagy is highly important in these long living neurons and may provide a neuroprotective mechanism. Also, difects in autophagy of neurons are associated with neurodegenaration.

Yes, neuronal cell doesn't go under mitosis, but this cell was formed earlier as a result of mitotic division. I hope that I have clarified the situation.
