I am doing opthalmology research using VFQ-39 questionaire. I have a manual concerning the scoring for questions, however, I dont see scoring process for missing optional questions "A". Should the missing answer for A question be evaluated as 0 or as an average of the rest of the answered questions? And should the missing answeres be counted for averaging? For example 75, 50, 100, missing, missing, 75. Should that be 300/6 or 300/4?

In research using the VFQ-39 questionnaire, missing responses for optional questions ("A") typically should not be scored as 0. Instead, a common approach is to calculate the average based only on the answered questions. So, in your example with responses of 75, 50, 100, missing, missing, 75, the average would be calculated as 300 divided by the number of answered questions (in this case, 4), resulting in an average score. Missing answers should not be counted for averaging purposes to avoid skewing the results.
