“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Life is a school and the motto is to learn with the goal to find the truth. It takes time and patience because finding the truth is finding the eternal happiness. Unfortunatly; most people are spending their time in the decorated cafeteria of the school; expecting to find their happiness.
One of the fundamental differences between a person and an animal: an animal lives mainly for itself; a person, if he perceives himself this way, must live mostly for others. In short, authentic persons differ from animal in their altruism. This brings people closer to God, which animals do not have. So, the motto of life is very simple: do not be an animal, be a man.
"Remember your dreams and fight for them. You must know what you want from life. There is just one thing that makes your dream become impossible: the fear of failure" (Paulo Coelho)
Everyone can think of something different - and everyone does it. If the individuum should have attained a certain social significance in his life, his answer, which appears in one of his texts (and is considered important by seekers), as well as the answers of other contemporaries is published in a collection. Readers can then ask themselves - if they think this makes sense - whether the respective motto corresponds to their own ideas. Their reactions are in turn collected by employees in a large system, who have a small idealistic incentive for their work through the system for this time-consuming activity in prospect, but its size is initially uncertain. The benefit for all is the opportunity to reflect on how we deal with our limited lifetime if we're still engaged in activities of this kind.
Life is a school and the motto is to learn with the goal to find the truth. It takes time and patience because finding the truth is finding the eternal happiness. Unfortunatly; most people are spending their time in the decorated cafeteria of the school; expecting to find their happiness.
My motto for life is that of Hillel the Elder who lived slightly before the time of Jesus. A Roman taunter can to the Sanhedrin and asked Shammi the leading sage to explain the Jewish Law or Torah "whilst standing on one leg". Shammi threw him out! But his partner Hillel said : "What is offensive to yourself, do not do to others. That is the whole Torah, the rest is commentary, now go and study it".
It is so easy to cause offense that were we able to cease doing it, the world would be a better place.
Life is a long bridge that people pass through, some of whom stumble and fall to live sadly, and some of them pass peacefully and live happily and a beautiful life.
Every motto for one's own life or the social life in which one is involved does not exist. It is a subsequent assignment to something that can be shown to others.
These sentence reminds me about three main questions of Russian life, which contain the whole Russian philosophy: "Who is blame?", "What should to do?" and last and most important: "Why?" However, the latest in the current situation sounds like: "What hell?"
Beautiful words were spoken, but this is all for ordinary people. However, I would like to hear the answer to this question from the leaders of the states. In one of the TV programs, I heard the phrase "People can be very easily confused with facts, but if people are well understand trend, they will not be deceived". In my opinion, this phrase could become a motto. Why? Because currently we live in an era of information war, where facts attack our brains. However, if we truly understand the development trend of society and especially "to who need it, so that this development goes in this direction" we would do the right conclusions for ourselves.
Man should be noble, helpful and good, said the German poet Johannn Wolfgang von Goethe. He himself did the opposite. Not at all he acted humanely towards certain people.
I like the saying that "geniuses are not born, but become". For example, Ludwig van Beethoven composed his masterpieces while being absolutely deaf. Chopin composed his masterpieces while being hopelessly ill with a rare lung disease. Chekhov wrote his wonderful stories while being hopelessly sick with tuberculosis. I share the opinion that it was their personal misfortune that made them geniuses, otherwise they would not have created their masterpieces in a healthy, normal state. They were well aware that death could come at any moment, and yet they worked to the last breath.
I think people are happiest when they sleep. A sleeping person is a calming sight, a sleeping child awakens emotions of highest happiness. Even today, there are people who are looking for happiness. Going to sleep and falling asleep makes you happy, slept well and waking up from sleep also.
The motto of life, is the one we use to be able to describe experiences and leave teaching to those who come behind us, logically, slogans should be positive and emit persevering energy
Interesting discussion, All the answers of research colleagues are beautiful and valuable and benefit to be a motto of life. and I agree with Vladimir Valentinovich Egorov.
In the book of Ecclesiastes Solomon ponders on the purpose of life. One will get some joy out of work but work it will cease. Work is not deep purpose.
Man will get some joy out of study but it will become tiresome. Neither the wealthiest man of history find happiness nor purpose in wealth the metals rust the cloth rots. There needs to be more. .
He talks about living in his flesh and found no solace there. He enjoyed wisdom and sought truth in words.
Yet Solomon lamented at a life of waste and squandering of his resources. It is all vanity he says about life.
Ultimately he was neither true to his wife of his youth and more importantly he was unfaithful to his Lord. In his life he lost his mind. Started out on the top of the world left it a babbling fool.
Solomon says all life is vanity. No so he does speak for me or my destiny as I can make other choices.
Then in a moment of sanity the venereal diseased monarch retorts We need to draw close and fear our Lord. for not complying to that Solomon is lamenting.
Everybody is going to die in their flesh. Yet the eternal life beyond the physical grave is way to truth and life is also available to us. .
It is not about us but rather it is about Him the Way the Truth and the Life.
I don't agree with Peter response who say 'The meaning of life is to live.' human beings does not came here just to live. Human beings is the most beautiful creativity of God. God have given human being knowledge and emotion. We have come here to search for truth. Otherwise there is no difference between human beings and animals.
