Melamine is not edible and dangerous for health, whether it is on milk etc. You may even find the trace of it on every food or drink which is served on melamine plate or glass. Especially if the food/ drink is hot and/or sour.
Melamine is rich in nitrogen, and relatively cheap. Adding it to milk makes the milk’s protein level appear higher. Standard quality tests estimate protein levels by measuring nitrogen content.
For the melamine scandal on China, the government had been executed all people who were responsible. They harmed millions babies and deserve punishment, although I myself against death sentence.
They were smart but evil. They knew that the protein analysis Kjeldalh method only identified Nitrogen compound on protrein, not the protein itself. Unfortunatelly, they are so many edible and unedible materials which are contain nitrogen, such as melamine
Adulteration has occurred, water has been added to raw milk to increase its volume. As a result of this dilution the milk has a lower protein concentration. Companies using the milk for further production normally check the protein level through a test measuring nitrogen content. The addition of melamine increases the nitrogen content of the milk and therefore it is added.Addition of melamine into food is not approved by the FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarius (food standard commission), or by any national authorities.
In 2008, 6 infants and 300,000 people were affected respectively in China because of adulterated milk powder. According to a study conducted by Peking University also found out that the ultrasound images of the victims indicated a prolonged effect due to melamine exposure. It is a serious concern that melamine ingestion results into long-term adverse health consequences.
Yes as Dr. Shibabrata sir stated, adulteration and vaccinations in food material are at peak in India nd day by day health issues increasing due to the same. Its really a serious matter
Nadeem Ahmad Khan the fluoride standard of 1.5 ppm you mention is for drinking water. If you consume a few liters of water with 1.5 ppm F- you have your daily dosis. If there isn't enough fluoride in the water it is very good to get a dosis in the 1 ml toothpaste you should use 2-3 times per day. You are expected not to swallow all the toothpaste. If you consume liters of toothpaste per day ....
Melamine is a chemical compound commonly used in the manufacture of resins, plastics and glues. In Europe, melamine is approved for manufacturing plastic materials and articles, but the addition of melamine in food and animal feed is prohibited.
The addition of melamine in food and animal feed is prohibited. In spite this it is frequently used in milk to make milk powder.
The 2008 Chinese milk scandal was a widespread food safety incident in China. The scandal involved milk and infant formula along with other food materials and components being adulterated with melamine. Of an estimated 300,000 victims in China,[1] six babies died from kidney stones and other kidney damage and an estimated 54,000 babies were hospitalized.
