Moral Pollution refers to the deterioration of ethical and moral values in society due to the widespread acceptance, promotion, or normalization of behaviors that contradict established moral principles.
It occurs when cultural influences—such as media, entertainment, social trends, or public figures—encourage actions that undermine societal ethics, leading to a shift in what is perceived as right or wrong.
The movie and streaming (OTT) industries have become powerful cultural forces shaping societal values and influencing public behavior. While films and web series serve as platforms for storytelling, entertainment, and artistic expression, they also play a critical role in shaping perceptions of morality. This paper investigates how the glamorization of illegal activities-such as theft, drug use, organized crime, prostitution, violence, and toxic masculinity-contributes to moral pollution in society.
