I am not able to see "Outflow" in and Fluid Flow and related modules like Laminar Flow, Brinkman Equations. But I am able to find in Heat Transfer modules. May I know what exactly Outflow means and its significance?
Outflow is just like a continuity, i.e. whatever comes in goes out. It is not a preferred boundary condition as it does capture the physics behind the process.
Mathematically outflow boundary condition sets derivatiove of all the variables normal to the boundary except pressure are zero in case of heat and fluid flow.
Outflow boundary conditions in FLUENT are used to model flow exits where the details of the flow velocity and pressure are not known prior to solution of the flow problem. You do not define any conditions at outflow boundaries (unless you are modeling radiative heat transfer, a discrete phase of particles, or split mass flow): FLUENT extrapolates the required information from the interior. It is important, however, to understand the limitations of this boundary type. However, there are certian exceptions.
In COSMOL, if you define velocity at one end, the other end should define pressure and vice versa
