i have plotted log(sigma)vs 1000/T to calculate activation energy. i am getting negative slope in paraelectric region from which i have calculated positive activation energy but in ferroelectric region i am getting positive slope which ultimately giving negative activation energy. What does this negative activation energy signify?
As explained very well by any kind of standard textbook on kinetics it means that your kinetic analysis is just apparanet and not corresponding to a single step as expected, say, from the phenomenological Arrhenium equation for the specific rate coefficient.
A negative activation energy might indicated that you are starting from an unstable state - or an already activated system - which might be the case in your ferromagnetic system.
If the rate of reaction decreases with the increase of temperature then it is said to be negative activation energy.
