In power system & power quality, we come across the term that explains about the happenings during the initial start-up of any electrical machine. In a wider aspect, what is transient velocity and how does it effect the system?
As I recall from long ago ..Kimbark (power system stability ) the torque angle delta
oscillates at the time of fault or any sudden load disturbance and it must not exceed
a certain value depending on the system to maintain stability. The velocity is d/dt of delta .It is a nonlinear equation and with methods of field forcing and braking resistors etc the margins can be improved. Modern methods of high speed switchgear also
