The unique sequence of amino acids characterizes a given protein; generally there are 20 amino acids and including 9 essential ones: histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine.
The BdorOBP69a protein has a leucine at position 89 and a phenylalanine at position 145 of its amino acid sequence. Obviously, if these are mutated to another amino acid, BdorOBP69a can no longer bind ME.
