I believe that the connection to adaptive learning will be increasingly visible as an important driver of learning analytics. Adaptive learning is what good teachers have wanted to do, always. To start education where the learner is. Now iot is more and more possible. See

Learning quality will improve if the instruction is personalized and adapted to individual Lerner learning styles. Adaptive learning system provides an opportunity to assess the knowledge of individual learner. My question is whether the teacher has that much enough time to look into each student and convince him/her about individual capability? Nowadays faculty has to do research and teaching mandatorily. Balancing both is really tough! Do the faculties have enough time to spend with students? I feel solution for this is adopting AI (Artificial Intelligence ) with LMS (Learning Management System)

Learning analytics and adaptive learning will help the teacher to be a better teacher and use his/her true human capabilities (personal feedback, mentoring, problem solving, etc).
Lets start generally. Teachers want all students to have steady continuos progress in learning, every day. But there is an industrial organisation in schooling, classes and courses, if student x does not learn y in time z, he fails - which may be more a system failure than an individual failure, even if it becomes the latter.
Teachers know that learning must start where the learner is. Different learners have different gaps in background knowledge as well, which can be difficult to detect. Learning analytics can be the tool for teachers to have an overview over learning successes and difficulties for a whole class of students, instead of having that overview for only a couple of them (if even that). It is all about pure information processing capacity, and it is here Artiifical Intelligence comes in in the form of Learning Analytics.
For the first time in history, information processing can happen besides biological brains, but must have good interface in relation to these brains (the teacher's in this case) so he/she can act upon information. (Other uses of LA is for example to make the student aware of his own learning, his own time on task, etc, improving teaching structures and materials etc, but we leave that here).
Adaptive learning is about segmentation of content and skills in modules so the student himself or in cooperation with the teacher and led by leanring analytics, can choose what is the most productive to do next (progress or cover a learning gap, etc). I think it is beneficial if there are possibilities to have some choices on how to approach and learn something - but skip this with learning styles altogether. It has ended up as pseudo-science and is of no guidance value for course design or segmentation for adaptive learning, or for any meaningful analysis.
For some years, there has been a lot discussed about formative assessment. Learning analytics helps with that and adaptive learning functionality is what to use to proceed in learning from that assessment, which can become more or less continuos. In this way, in the future we may need no, or less, formal assessment, if the learner just has a credible learning curve.
Other consequences are that leanring analytics and adaptive learning in the end breaks up school organisation (classes, courses, etc). Learning becomes the constant factor while time becomes variable. That is much better than today with time as constant but learning variable. But there will be disruptions and recreations (of social learning as an example) for this to begin to work.
Concerning project-based learning - I agree with you, but this cannot be the only form for everything, since outcomes are very unpredictable. Salman Khan combines project-based learning with more adaptive but goal-focused learning in his interesting book "The one-world Schoolhouse". Se my review below.

As known, learning analytics provide important information for decision making, and intervention in learning process.
From my point of view, one of important barrier to learning analytics is that the reference model of the intervention engines is not yet fully researched. In the studies so far, the dashboard form of learning (and/or academic) analytics has been frequently discussed. The dashboard is also important for feedback intervention. However, the design of intervention engines is important for extending the areas of intervention of learning analytics.
Some interesting points made here - however
I read the PPT presentation. Using technology based LA consists of equal (if not more) work for academics, who as Vinjak rightly said, are expected to teach and publish, as well asadministrative work. Once I read somewhere that it is 30% of all 3?
It was no surprise to find the medical field contributing its share in the LA presentation. I have come to the conclusion that health care and education are similar in many ways; and technology use for patient care as well as student learning, can be of help for both.
Nonetheless relying too much on technology can result in pitfalls.
a) using technology can be time consuming just as much as the old paper and ink to see where the students are heading re their learning, as one of my interviewees stared he did with his students.
b) Likewise the use of whiteboard and marker, or 'talk and chalk' in the classroom ( I used both and they have their pros and cons though so similar) as one of my interviewees aptly put it to teach and discuss with students. Using a LMS to enhance teaching can be so time consuming
c) Both academics and students range on a continuum of technophobic to technocratic when it comes to using technology forlearning or teaching. And the digital natives tend to take eresources assacrosanct, even if they are not.
Someone also mentioned project based learning. That is the ultimate learning experience for students. Why? For the simple reason that it is self directed learning by the student who receives feedback from the supervisor; or should be such.
Just yesterday a dissertation student told me that she got assignments back with a mark but withnot even one comment of feedback. That for me is distressing and shortchanging the student.
Feedback is the key to student learning.
